Adam Akopian (12) has won the 13th edition of the Royal Concertgebouw Competition on 20 June. The jury was very impressed with Adam’s musicianship. ‘You don’t play music, you are music,’ said Vincent de Kort, chair of the jury. ‘You are a fantastic pianist, and you know a lot about music. You are serious when you have to be, but you also have a great sense of humour.’

Adam received the Royal Concertgebouw Competition trophy and an amount of € 1,000,- to be put towards his musical development. He will also give a lunchtime concert in the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw next season.

Adam Akopian studies with Frank Peters at the Sweelinck Academy, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s study programme for young talents.
