Five bands from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam have reached the final of the Grachtenfestival Jazz Competition 2022. The bands are Paggio & the Giraffes, The Fried Seven (photo), the Marti Mitjavila Trio, NAUSYQA and Kingdom Animalia. 

The final will take place on 20 March 2022, 14.00h., at ’t Zonnehuis, Amsterdam-Noord. Jury members are: Frank van Berkel (chair), Denise Jannah, Vincent Henar, Co de Kloet and Benjamin Herman.

2021 saw the start of the Grachtenfestival Jazz Competition, in order to offer young jazz musicians scouting and development trajectories, in addition to the classical Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition. The winner of this first edition was the Ben Fitzpatrick Quartet, formed by CvA students and alumni. They won the jury prize as well as the Denise Jannah Award.
