First Prize and Stage Award for Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet at Kamermuziek Concours Gelre

This year, the second edition of the Kamermuziek Concours Gelretook place. At the finale on 25 September, Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet won the first prize and the Stage Award, made available by Concertgebouw De Vereeniging. As a prize the quartet received three master classes and the opportunity to play a lunch concert in the main hall of Concertgebouw De Vereeniging in Nijmegen.

The Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet plays music written for saxophone quartet, ranging from the genre's early beginnings in France during the early 20th century, to the most recent developments in the Dutch musical landscape. The quartet consists of Lisa Schreiber (soprano), Jen-Hong Wu (alto), Ileana Termini (tenor), and Pedro Silva (baritone). All four follow the Bachelor in Classical Saxophone, with Arno Bornkamp.

Kamermuziek Concours Gelreis a national competition that encourages musical talent and brings classical ensembles under the attention. The jury for edition 2022 consisted of Bart van de Roer (Pianist), Alena Walentin (Flutist), Maria Milstein (Violinist), and Kenne Peters (On behalf of De Vereeniging).
