Statement of solidarity with Iranian women* and students
Academy of Theatre and Dance

As an educational institution we stand in solidarity with Iranian women* and students who are suffering under the increasing state violence as a reaction to the protests after the killing of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini.

We stand with the many young people protesting and putting their lives on the line from Kurdistan to Zahedan, from Balochistan to Tehran, and all the other cities.
We stand with the people in diaspora who fear returning home, and are living in fear for friends and family while not being able to be in touch with their loved ones due to the Internet shut off.
We stand with the students at Sharif University who are being arrested and killed.
We stand with teenager and child students who got murdered.
We stand with the queer community who have lived through unimaginable attacks.
We stand with the women* against a regime that violently suppresses its minorities and lacks any ground for humanity.
We stand with the women* facing generational trauma and feelings of displacement.
We look with horror and concern at these developments where a cry for justice is answered with bullets and where the grounds of educational institutions are used as traps.
We call for an end to the systemic state violence against women* in Iran.
We call for an end to violence on peaceful protesters.
We call upon our colleagues and fellow institutions to not let our attention waver, and to continue to condemn this violence.

Women*, life, freedom.
