And the winners are...

On Sunday the 6th of November, the award ceremony of Graduation Weekend 2022 was held. The jury, consisting of director Madeleine Maaskant, head of architecture Janna Bystrykh, head of urbanism Markus Appenzeller, and head of landscape architecture Joost Emmerik, were joined by visiting critic Michelle Provoost. Michelle Provoost is part of the Independent School for the City’s Dean Team, co-founder of Crimson Historians and Urbanists, and director of the International New Town Institute. She is an architectural historian specializing in urban planning history, postwar architecture, and contemporary urban development.

The criteria that the jury discussed and used in the process of making a selection included research, coherence, consistency, and urgency. For which problem or question is the project an answer - and is it a relevant question? Those problems or questions could be environmental, societal, or political issues. Additionally, the public had the opportunity to vote on their favourite project, resulting in the Audience Award.
