11 November | Book Launch OASE 112 Ecology & Aesthetics

This new issue of OASE focuses on the intersection of ecology and aesthetics. It asks: how do ecological questions materialise in architecture? And what aesthetic practices are able to shape the perception of these ecological questions? Through a series of concrete projects, from the Farnsworth House to Extinction Rebellion, the contributions in this issue explore the field of tension between architectural aesthetics and issues of technology, typology, materiality and nature. Taken together, the articles attempt to trace how ecological thought can and already is affecting the way we look at buildings, how we value them, and what we expect from them.

Bart Decroos is an architect and researcher based in Antwerp. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp, where his research focuses on the cultural logic of ecological architecture. He is a member of the editorial board of OASE Journal for Architecture and writes for various architecture magazines. Previously, he worked at the Flanders Architecture Institute and De Vylder Vinck Taillieu Architecten.
