The Conservatorium van Amsterdam congratulates violinist and CvA teacher Johannes Leertouwer on receiving his doctorate. Johannes received his doctorate today from Leiden University for his research on the 19th-century performance practice of Johannes Brahms' orchestral repertoire. His PhD research focuses on the performance practice of Brahms’ orchestral music in the 19th century, centering on the question how lost elements of 19th-century performance practice can shed new light on the performance of Brahms' music.
