For years, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta has been the place of choice for CvA strings students to develop their talents further. 'And also this year, we were pleasantly surprised by the high level of the students,' says Stephan Heber, artistic manager at Amsterdam Sinfonietta. After an extensive round of auditions, several CvA students were chosen to take part in Sinfonietta projects, conducted by Candida Thompson, in May and October.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta is quite the experience for spectators, as the 22 strings in the orchestra play together without a conductor. 'But it is also a special learning experience for students to play in such a large chamber music ensemble,' says Stephan, 'They learn to listen very carefully to their fellow players, and they experience what it's like to play in an ensemble without a conductor, and that it takes more initiative from the musician himself.'

The CvA is very proud of the large group of students who get to participate in the orchestra's projects.
