Alumna Hawijch Elders first prize at Henri Marteau International Violin Competition

During the eight edition of the Henri Marteau International Violin Competition in Bavaria, CvA-alumna Hawijch Elders won first prize. She was awarded a €10,000 cash prize and will be involved in a broadcast production with Bayerischer Rundfunk, a CD release, and various concert engagements. The 2023 jury consisted of Gilbert Varga, Michael Frischenschlager, Erika Geldschletzer, Ilya Kaler, Nam Yun Kim, Natalia Lomeiko, Silvia Marcovici, Kurt Saßmannshaus, Alexandra Soumm, and Ingolf Turbam.

Hawijch graduated last year with a ten at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since September 2021, she is Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. She studied with Ilya Grubert.
