Victor Baena de la Torre appointed junior organist-in-residence of the Pieterskerk Leiden

Alumnus Victor Baena de la Torre has been appointed junior organist-in-residence of the Pieterskerk in Leiden for a period of two years. He is the first organist to hold this position. As junior organist-in-residence he will give a number of concerts in and around the Pieterskerk.

Victor Baena de la Torre (Spain, 1995), obtained his master's degree in 2020 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Pieter van Dijk and Matthias Havinga. Subsequently, he followed a post-master "konzertexamen" at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater of Hamburg. Since then, he has worked as a regular organist in a number of churches in Amsterdam and as an organ teacher.
In 2019, he won first prize at the Schnitger Internationale Orgelconcours in Alkmaar and, a year later, second prize at the National Organ Competition in Burgos, Spain.
