The Conservatorium van Amsterdam proudly announces Sandrine Chatron as the new principal subject teacher of Harp, effective from September 2024. She will succeed Erika Waardenburg, who will retire next academic year. Since 2012, Sandrine has taught orchestra training at the CvA. Additionally, she teaches Harp Audition Training classes every year.

Kees Koelmans, Head of Strings, says, "With Sandrine, we have a top-notch player among us, who has also earned her reputation in the pedagogical field: she has been extraordinarily successful as an orchestra training teacher at the CvA. Sandrine will succeed Erika Waardenburg as the figurehead of the world-renowned Amsterdam harp class, which achieved great fame under Erika's guidance. We eagerly anticipate the collaboration with Sandrine and are confident that the harp tradition at the CvA will be in capable hands under her stewardship, ensuring its continued healthy growth."

Sandrine Chatron boasts an impressive international career. As a concert and chamber musician, she has performed throughout Europe, Asia and North America. She has worked with the most important French orchestras, such as Opéra de Paris, Orchestre de Paris and Orchestre National de France, and also performs with Klangforum Wien, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. Since 2009, she has been solo harpist of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a member of the trio Polycordes, which focuses on contemporary music, and plays regularly with Ensemble Intercontemporain, with whom she recorded Pierre Boulez' Sur incises for Deutsche Grammophon.
