Her Majesty Queen Máxima will open the new building of the Dutch National Ballet Academy (NBA) at Nicolaas Tetterodestraat in Amsterdam on Tuesday afternoon, 1 October. This milestone marks the official end of a search of more than a decade for a new home that can accommodate all the pupils and students of the NBA.

The building at Nicolaas Tetterodestraat 13 in Amsterdam has been in use by the Dutch National Ballet Academy since autumn 2023. The pupils, students and teachers now have a modern, bright building with seven large studios - one of which can serve as a theatre hall - classrooms for primary school pupils and all the other facilities needed to provide top-level ballet education.

It is a great honour that Her Majesty Queen Máxima will conduct the official opening. Especially for this occasion, NBA pupils and students will dance in a special opening programme. After several dance performances, Queen Máxima will officially open the Dutch National Ballet Academy. Afterwards, she visits a classical ballet class for final-year students and attends a rehearsal of young dancers preparing for their roles in the Dutch National Ballet's 'Nutcracker & Mouse King'. Queen Máxima will also speak with several students and teachers. The opening is open to invited guests only.
