Recorder player Esra Jonckman (15) (photo) was proclaimed the overall winner of the Young Talents Competition Maassluis, organized by the Maassluis Music Week. She won first prize in category 15 to 18 years of age. Second prize in that category went to Vincent Kalk (17), cello. Esra and Vincent both study at the Sweelinck Academy; Esra with Hester Groenleer and Vincent with Monique Heidema.
Sweelinck Academy students were very successful in the other categories as well: in category 8 to 11 years of age violinist Iulia Petrutoni (9), student with Wiesje Miedema and Eliot Lawson, won the first prize and an incentive prize. In category 12 to 14, the first prize went to cellist Odilie Celano (14), student with Monique Heidema. Pianist Fernando Lourens (13), a student with Robert Kulek, won second prize.
Rasmus Kramer (11), cello, student with Monique Heidema, won an incentive prize.
