Renan Dijkinga wins Archiprix 2025

Published on

On Saturday 14 June, the winners of the Archiprix 2025 were announced. One of the winners is Renan Dijkinga. He graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture as a landscape architect with his project ‘(Be)Coming Home’. He received his prize during the award ceremony at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam.

From the juryrapport:

‘The jury is impressed by the project’s multi-scalar approach, which is elaborated upon in the plan presentation and the richly illustrated thesis, where text and image are powerfully merged. The thorough fieldwork is carefully documented, demonstrating a deep commitment to and passion for the area, as well as a sensitive approach. The design proposals appear structuring and feasible and form a skilful translation of the ambitions for the area, worked out down to the object level. The landscape architect’s choice of his birthplace as the design location transcends personal sensibilities and touches on a broader theme that is of global relevance, not only to the Brazilian landscapes. The search for identity and the restoration of the relationship between people and landscapes is an urgent global issue, especially at a time when extensive monoculture is increasingly damaging landscapes.'

About Archiprix

Archiprix is the platform connecting Dutch Master’s programmes in architecture, urbanism, interior architecture and landscape architecture. Each year, it showcases the newest generation of talented designers. The central themes of this edition, rethink and repair, express a shared ambition to restore balance to the world by critically re-evaluating existing systems and taking care of what already exists.

This year, 26 graduation projects were presented. The jury assessing the graduation projects of this Archiprix edition was comprised by Claire Oude Aarninkhof, Daryl Mulvihill, Merten Nefs, Harm Rensink and Laura van Santen, who together represent the fields of architecture, urbanism, interior architecture, landscape architecture and theory/research. Saskia van Stein served as jury chair.

The jury awarded first prize to four designers: Nasma Alshutfa (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague), Renan Dijkinga (Amsterdam Academy of Architecture), Daan de Jong (Rotterdam Academy of Architecture) and Ayla Stomp (Rotterdam Academy of Architecture). Two designers received honourable mentions: Charlotte Delobbe (Delft University of Technology) and Vincent van Spaendonk (Eindhoven University of Technology). Read the jury rapport here.
