Erasmus+ exchange for incoming students
The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) takes part in the Erasmus+ study exchange programme and has dozens of bilateral agreements with international institutions in the arts. Three of our six academies take part in the Erasmus+ study exchange programme and accept incoming Erasmus+ exchanges. These academies are: the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Academy of Theatre and Dance (dance department) and the Academy of Architecture.
If you are a student and you are interested in a study exchange experience at the AHK through Erasmus+, please read below and take the following steps.
Applying and admission for exchange
Please contact the international office of your home institution first, as they can confirm whether your school is a partner institution of the AHK and has a bilateral agreement with us for study exchanges. If your school doesn’t have an agreement with the AHK (or one of our academies), please ask the International Office of your home institution to contact the contact person of the AHK academy of your choice about possibilities to set up a bilateral agreement with your school. (See Contact persons).

You need to arrange a nomination with your home institution for an Erasmus+ study exchange (which allows you also to receive an Erasmus+ study grant).
At the AHK, the Academy International Coordinator is your contact person on your exchange. The course selection and the determination of the number of ECTS credits for each course will be done in consultation with the Internationalisation Coordinator of the academy (and the head of the study programme).

In the Netherlands, a ten point system is often used in both secondary and higher education. A grade of 10 is the highest and 6 is the minimum pass grade. The grade 5.5 (until 5a.9) will often be rounded up to "6". At the Amsterdam University of the Arts, different grading systems are applied depending on the subject area, such as music, theatre, dance or architecture. This could be a ten-point-system, a system with letters or description; a four-point-system is for instance applied for architecture. See the grading cultures of our academies here.
