Study Afternoon: 'Assessment in the Arts'

On Tuesday, 3 February 2015, the Arts and Cultural Education Research Group will present the research publication 'Assessment in the Arts: Instruments and Research'. This report compiles nine research findings in the fields of music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. The authors include members of the research group (lecturers from the Amsterdam University of the Arts), alumni of the Master of Arts Education programme, and two researchers from the University of Amsterdam.

During this study afternoon at the Academy of Architecture, several of the authors will present the findings of their research. Borius van der Meulen will explain the results of the research into the validity and applicability of the assessment instrument for theatre lessons. Talita Groenendijk will present the outcomes of the from her review study on assessment instruments in dance education, and Steven Faber and Hannie van Veldhoven will share their conclusions on the assessment of piano exams at conservatoires. The day will conclude with a column by Robert Klatser on the topic of assessment in arts education.
