Conference: Arts Loves Science

On Friday, 24 May 2019, the Professorship Platform "Education at the Intersection of Art, Science, and Technology" organised a conference focused on crossovers in education, art, science, and technology. Various speakers delivered presentations on their art-science practices, offering inspiration for educators. Additionally, the platform presented its research agenda in the form of a manifesto, and attendees had the opportunity to experience art-science practices firsthand.
Programme:
- Lecture by Špela Petrič:
Špela Petrič is a media artist with a PhD in biomedical sciences. Her research explores intriguing questions such as, "Can art play a role beyond Earth?" Špela won the Bio Art & Design Award 2014 for her work Four Cultures, which investigated artificial habitats for organisms in the North Sea. She will present her ongoing research into plants, where she employs both scientific and artistic methods. - Lecture by Nathan Su (Forensic Architecture):
Forensic Architecture (London) is a collective operating at the transdisciplinary intersection of science, activism, and art. It comprises an interdisciplinary team of architects, researchers, journalists, filmmakers, lawyers, artists, software developers, and archaeologists who conduct forensic investigations into incidents of violence that have been covered up.

Presented by Raoul Frese (Director of Hybrid Forms ArtScience Media Lab, VU) and Joris Buis (Curriculum Developer and Lecturer, Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, UvA). - Labyrinth Psychotica:
Jennifer Kanary Nikolov(a) (Artist and Founder of Roomforthoughts) presents Labyrinth Psychotica, a digital system that allows people to experience what it is like to have a psychosis.
