Location

Before the summer holiday kicks off, the SJDA lectorate invites you to join our 3-day summerschool!

What does ‘social justice’ mean in your artistic practice? What does a socially just artistic practice look like on a daily basis? How does it manifest in your work and in your collaborations?

During this 3-day summerschool at the Culture Club at the Marineterrein, we will work with the 5 pillars developed by the lectorate: relationality, temporality, transformation, cost and joy. Aminata Cairo will introduce us to the Inclusivity Pathway Training that supports you in “walking your own path in becoming more skilled and confident in providing inclusive spaces''.

Members of the SJDA team will host different sessions during the three days. Decolonial thinker, artist and researcher Paulina Trejo Mendez will introduce us to their journey in decoloniality and Indigenous knowledge and will work with us to make tangible the approaches, values and dreams that we hold dear for our own artistic practice, through zine making, storytelling, singing and movement. Collectively, we will work on weaving our stories together.

Expect

  • An intense, meaningful, transformative experience
  • Building a community of citizens, artists, thinkers, creatives and students who are dedicated in their own ways to developing socially just approaches
  • Expanding your skillset of listening, tuning in, healing and restoring communally through creative means
  • Exploring what social justice may look like in your own artistic practice
  • Lunch and snacks
