The AHK and the Marineterrein

The Marineterrein is the creative and technological hub and hotspot in Amsterdam. This centuries-old site is located on the city island of Kattenburg to the east of the center of Amsterdam and was fully used by the Admiralty of Amsterdam and its successor, the Royal Navy from 1655 to 2015. The old residents have largely left the site and in recent years an international community of innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs has settled. The site has developed into the experimental backdrop for innovation, projects, events and start-ups.

Create, learn and experiment
The academies of the AHK have four communal workshops on the Marineterrein where they work together with the broad community in the field on innovative projects for social challenges. In the AHK MakerSpace, students and alumni can experiment with new technologies, such as 3D printers and laser cutters, and materials for models, models, sets and installations. The VRAcademy is an XR Base where you can learn to work with the latest virtual reality techniques. The AHK Culture Club offers a place, a stage and a programme to meet, create, experiment, develop and show. The AHK LearningLab houses various projects and lectureships that focus on research and education at the intersection of art, science and technology.
