What will you learn during this evening?
The career opportunity that you’ve been waiting for presents itself! How do you make sure you stand out, that your cover letter or spontaneous email gets read? How do you convince the reader that you are the person for the job? How do you inspire your future employer or client? Distinguish yourself with the perfect cover letter and a convincing CV! During this workshop, we will delve deeper into the ‘why’ of what you do. You will learn how to stand out and distinguish yourself.  You will learn to convey who you are (as a creator) and what drives you.  You will work on your own text and learn how to tailor your CV. After this workshop, you will know how to present yourself to the professional field in the best possible way. 

What to bring:  

• A laptop or pen and paper; 

• A job vacancy or call for an assignment. If you don't have this, you can think of a vacancy, assignment or workplace yourself that you would like to prepare for;

About the trainer:
Simone Hogendijk(she/her) is the expert of the evening. She works in a range of roles, including artistic director, dramaturg, programme curator, guest lecturer and adviser. Until March 2025, she served as the artistic director of the festival Over het IJ. She specialises in initiating and supporting development processes and programmes for emerging theatre-makers, helping them navigate the wider performing arts landscape. She does this in part through a newly established development and advisory platform focused on (site-specific) theatre. The intangible heritage of Over het IJ plays a valuable role in this context. At a time of growing financial pressure and the disappearance of spaces for creation and development, Simone works alongside artists to explore new funding approaches and organisational models that are more in tune with contemporary ambitions and working practices.

18:00–20:30: Workshop begins | The instructor will share everything you need to know as a beginner.
20:30–21:00: The bar is open | Continue the conversation with other guests or ask the instructor your questions.

Free workshop

This workshop is free for students and recent graduates (from 2022 onwards). AHK alumni who graduated before 2022, or external visitors, are also very welcome! The ticket price for them is €12.50.
