Student housing
The demand for student housing in Amsterdam is high. Room rates are high and it is not easy to find housing. But it is not impossible. Below we discuss some options.
- !WOON informs, advises and supports residents in Amsterdam. You can ask questions about the housing corporations offering student accommodation here.
- Studentenwoningweb Studentenwoningweb offers rooms and houses for students. The offer is from the housing corporations Pré Wonen, Stadgenoot, Lieven de Key, and Ymere. You pay €22.50 for a ten-year registration. You can respond to the offer unlimitedly.
- Ymere Ymere also offers temporary housing. These will be demolished or renovated in the future.
- The Social Hub The Social Hub has more than 700 rooms. You can stay there for a day to a year. Permanent housing is not possible here.
- De gemeente Amsterdam The municipality of Amsterdam offers an information overview. It tells you how to find accommodation in Amsterdam and what to look out for.
- ROOM offers student rooms in cities including Amsterdam and Haarlem. You pay €35 for an eight-year registration.
- HousingAnywhere HousingAnywhere offers rooms for students from abroad. You can also offer your room here (and find rooms) if you are going abroad yourself.
- Student Experience offers independent living spaces with their own kitchen and bathroom.
- Uprent is a platform and browser extension that combines offers from all rental platforms in the Netherlands into one feed, it lets you filter by travel time, sends notifications about new offers and organises your search.

For international students
International student can benefit from the range of 30 student rooms of housing foundation De Key. Priority is given to first-year students. The rooms are available for a period of 1 year. More information & application form
Leisure Time
You'll never be bored in your free time, there's always something going on! For example, students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam perform almost every day. In their agenda are all public performances listed. The agenda of the Academie voor Theater and Dance is also filled with performances.
CREA, the cultural student center, offers courses at a student discount. They run three blocks per year, so there’s always something that fits your schedule. Think theatre, photography, writing, or dance. CREA also regularly hosts performances you can attend.
With a Cineville membership, you can go to the movies as often as you like for a fixed monthly fee! Cineville cinemas are located all over the city, showing not just blockbusters but also arthouse films and re-releases.

Art and Culture
Amsterdam is packed with Museums, theaters, cinema's and Concerts. The perfect city for culture lovers! In addition to icons like the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, you’ll also find smaller gems like FOAM (photography) and the EYE Film Institute. There’s also plenty to explore outdoors: wander through the streets, discover street art at the NDSM, or visit an open-air performance at the Bostheater or in Vondelpark.
