Conferentie Making a Thirdspace
De Breitner Academie, de Master Kunsteducatie en het Lectoraat Kunsteducatie van de Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de kunsten organiseren op 25 mei 2019 een symposium over kunstenaardocenten, democratische pedagogiek en het derde pedagogisch gebied. Het symposium is onderdeel van de ‘UNESCO International Arts Education Week’.

Wat is de betekenis van de hybride dubbele beroepspraktijk van professionals die werken op het snijvlak van kunst en educatie, voor de pedagogische praktijk? En welke betekenis heeft deze hybride praktijk voor onderwijsvernieuwing? Ontstaat in de marges tussen kunst en school een derde pedagogisch gebied en zo ja, wat gebeurt daar? Op deze en andere vragen zullen in het symposium antwoorden worden gezocht via lezingen en workshops. Aanleiding voor het symposium is het verschijnen van de publicatie “Kunstenaardocenten en democratische pedagogiek” van Marike Hoekstra, die vorig jaar promoveerde op dit onderwerp.
Voor wie: Het symposium is bedoeld voor kunstenaardocenten, docenten, kunstenaars, kunsteducatoren, opleiders, onderzoekers, (master)studenten en iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in geëngageerde kunsteducatie.

English: On May 25th the Amsterdam University of the Arts hosts a symposium on artist teacher practice, democratic pedagogy and the pedagogical thirdspace. The symposium is part of the ‘UNESCO International Arts Education Week’.
What are the implications of the hybrid interdisciplinary fusion of art and education for pedagogical practice? What are the implications of hybrid practice for educational reform? Is it possible for a pedagogical thirdspace to open up in the margins between art and school? And what goes on in this thirdspace? These are the questions which will be addressed in this symposium. Making a Thirdspace is organised on the occasion of the publication of the shortened Dutch translation of Marike Hoekstra’s doctoral thesis: “Artist teachers and democratic pedagogy; drakakas and thirdspace”(2018).
