30 Student Rooms Available for International Students – Academic Year 2025–2026

The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) does not own student accommodation but has made arrangements with local housing providers. Thirty student rooms are now available for international students. Priority will be given to first-year students under the age of 21. Rooms are located at Bijltjespad and Weesperstraat and are available on a short-stay contract for the duration of one year.

The application round for students starting their studies in September 2025 will open on Monday, 23 June 2025. We expect to update applicants on their chances of receiving an offer in the second week of July 2025. This means that you will have two weeks to complete the application form. You'll be contacted in the following weeks if you have been selected for student housing.

If selected, your details will be forwarded to the housing provider, Lieven de Key, who will send you a room offer. Please follow the instructions provided in the offer to confirm your booking. Note: It is not possible to change the room or location offered. You will be given a short window (a few days) to confirm your booking. If you fail to respond by the given deadline, the room may be offered to someone else.

Room Details

• The room size are: 4.24 x 2.92 m and 3.76 x 3.08 m
• Rent is between €550 – €680 per month
• An average of 15 students (Dutch and international) share and clean the kitchen and bathroom
  • Bijltjespad: 10–12 people
  • Weesperstraat: 17 people

Important Information

• Practising musical instruments is not permitted in these rooms
• Priority is given to first-year students aged 21 or younger
• The housing agreement will be made via Lieven de Key
• A two-month rent deposit is required
• All contracts have a fixed term of one year
  • Rent must be paid for the full rental period. In other words, you are obligated to pay rent for the entire rental period originally agreed upon.
  • It is not possible to shorten or extend your rental contract, or get a rent reduction for late arrival or early departure.

After your contract ends, you must find alternative housing independently. The room will be made available to a new incoming international student.
