30 student rooms available for international students for academic year 2023-2024

The AHK does not own any student accommodation as such, but has made agreements with local housing providers. Thirty student rooms are now available for international students of the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Priority is given to first year students under 21 years of age. There are rooms available at Bijltjespad and Weesperstraat. The rooms are available under a short stay contract for the duration of 1 year, starting for Bijltjespad on 18 August and for Weesperstraat on 18 August 2023 until 10 August 2024.

The upcoming application round for students who are starting their studies in September 2023, will be open from Monday 12 June 2023 until Friday 30 June 2023. This means that you will have two weeks to complete the application form.

After submitting your housing application, please check your email to find out if you have been selected for student housing. We expect to send you an update on your chances of receiving an offer in the first week of July 2023. Once you have been selected your details will be forwarded accordingly to housing provider Lieve de Key. They will sent you a room offer. If you receive a room offer, please follow the instructions to confirm (unfortunately, you cannot change the room or location offered). You will be given a very short time frame of a few days to book your room. If you fail to respond by the given date, you may lose the room.

Remember to check your spam folder!

Room details:

  • The rooms are 4.24 x 2.92m and 3.76 x 3.08m.
  • Rent is between €400 and €500.
  • An average of 15 students (both Dutch and foreign) will share and clean kitchen and bathroom. (Bijltjespad: 10 to 12 people, Weesperstraat: 17 people).

Important:

  • Practicing musical instruments is not allowed in these rooms.
  • Priority is given to first year students with the age maximum of 21 years old.
  • The agreement will be made with housing provider Lieve de Key.
  • Two months rent must be paid as a deposit.
  • All student housing contracts have a fixed rental period of one year. In other words, you are obligated to pay rent for the entire rental period originally agreed upon.
  • It is not possible to shorten or extend your rental contract, or get a rent reduction for late arrival or early departure.
  • If you want to stay in Amsterdam after your housing contract provided housing ends, you will need to search for housing independently. The room you stayed in is needed again for a newly arriving international student.
