This happy event will be celebrated from June 29th to July 4th in Hamburg, where Neumeier has led the Hamburg Ballett since 1973. Six of the seven international ballet academies that have permission to perform Yondering, including the National Ballet Academy, will take part in this celebration.

Six of the seven international ballet academies that have permission to perform Yondering, including the National Ballet Academy, will take part in this celebration.

The highlight of the festivities in Hamburg will be a gala on July 4th when Yondering will be performed by a mixed cast from the six participating academies: Canada’s National Ballet School, Hamburg Ballett School, L’École de Danse de l’Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Ballet School, Houston Ballet Academy and our National Ballet Academy. Performances of Yondering are usually danced to a recording of the American baritone Thomas Hampson performing songs by the nineteenth-century American songwriter Stephen C. Foster. But for this special occasion, Hampson will be performing Foster’s music live.

Besides the mixed-cast performance of Yondering, each academy will perform something of their own. Students of the National Ballet Academy are presenting David Dawson’s successful work 5.

The NBA students participating in the gala are Dorian Browne, Simon Catonnet, Khayla Fitzpatrick, Lexie Marx, Kayla-Maree Tarontolo and Conor Walmsley. They will be accompanied on their trip to Hamburg by artistic director Jean-Yves Esquerre and teacher Nathalie Caris.
