Cookies and cookie legislation
The websites of the Amsterdam University of the Arts make use of cookies. These are small files that are sent with the pages of these websites and saved by your browser on your computer. Preferences and surfing behaviour can be remembered with the assistance of cookies and used for a following visit.
The AHK uses cookies to improve the websites based on visitor statistics. In addition, tracking cookies are used, as soon as the visitor gives consent for that.
Cookie legislation
A new Telecommunications Act has been in force since June 2012, which requires every Dutch website to inform users about the use of cookies and to request permission for the use thereof. The Amsterdam University of the Arts will explain on this page how it handles cookies. This explanation also applies to the websites of the: Amsterdam University of the Arts, Academy of Architecture, Academy of Theatre and Dance, Breitner Academy, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Netherlands Film Academy, Reinwardt Academy and BeroepKunstenaar.

First-party cookies
Just like more than 80% of other websites worldwide, the AHK makes use of Google Analytics to help improve the website for its visitors.
Third-party cookies
The AHK makes use of external services on a number of pages to offer information on its website. Content that is located on a different domain than the AHK’s own domain is made accessible by means of ‘embedding’ in such cases. Moreover, the external service can place a cookie.
Content of the following websites is displayed within the AHK web: Facebook (facebook.com), Flickr (flickr.com), Issuu (issuu.com), Google Maps (maps.google.com), Soundcloud (soundcloud.com), Vimeo (vimeo.com) and YouTube (youtube.com).
Social media
You will find a number of buttons on almost every page of the AHK web with which you can share the content of our website on various social networks. If you click on such a button, the social network in question will place a cookie on your computer. The AHK has no influence over this.
The information that the social networks collects is anonymised as much as possible. The information is stored on servers in the United States. Social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, are also supposed to comply with the Safe Harbor principles and are affiliated with the Safe Habor programmes of the American Department of Commerce.
Tracking cookies
The tracking cookies only take effect when you agree to this. This cookies are used to track website visits for statistical purposes and to measure adverts that the AHK places on other websites. The AHK also uses remarketing cookies to advertise online to specific target groups. External advert providers, including Google, may use these cookies to determine whether an advert of the AHK is shown on other websites that you visit.
If you do not wish to see adverts of the AHK on the basis of remarketing cookies, you can disable them via Google’s ‘My Ad Centre’ or the opt-out page of the Network Advertising Initiative.
Google Analytics
Cookies from the American company Google are placed via our website as part of the Analytics service. We use this service to keep track of how visitors use the websites. Google may provide this information to third parties if it is legally required to do so, or insofar as third parties process the information on behalf of Google. The Amsterdam University of the Arts has no influence over this.
The information that Google collects is anonymised as much as possible. Your IP address is explicitly not provided. The information is stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google complies with the Safe Harbor principles and is affiliated with the Safe Habor programmes of the American Department of Commerce. This means that there is an appropriate level of protection for the processing of any personal data.
