Overview of vacancies

Would you like to work at the art university in the heart of Amsterdam? Looking for a new challenge in an inspiring environment? Then keep reading and discover what we have to offer.

Developing your talents

Working at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) means working in an informal working atmosphere, where you can develop yourself and your talents.

At the AHK, you can (continue to) develop yourself. Take part in a training course, make use of coaching, or participate in a project team or working group. The AHK offers training courses, both internally and externally. In addition, you will have access to our online learning environment GoodHabitz for courses or training programmes that tie in with your learning needs. We will make the time and budget available. You will make the plans for your professional development, together with your supervisor, on an annual basis.

We believe a good work-life balance is important. From the moment of entry into employment, you will receive employability hours (duurzame inzetbaarheidsuren, DI-uren), which you can use to ensure this balance. You can use them, for example, for caregiving duties or for work experience outside the AHK. In addition, we have a range of wellness activities, including yoga, pilates and sport. In this way, we hope to contribute to your employability – both now and in the future – in a positive way.

Work and leave
The Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences (cao-hbo) has various leave arrangements; not only holiday leave, but also leave in exceptional situations. For a complete overview, please refer to Chapter J in the Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences.

Parental leave
You are entitled to parental leave for a child up to 8 years old. The size of the leave is a maximum of 26 times your working hours. You may determine yourself when you take the leave, but you should consult your supervisor about this. Parental leave is unpaid. The pension accrual will continue to be based on the original job size, however, and the premium payment too. Benefit entitlements and suchlike will also continue to be based on the original job size. Illness has no effect on the parental leave.

Participation Act
The AHK wants to be a diverse and inclusive organisation, where everyone feels at home. This also applies to people who are distanced from the labour market for various reasons. We work together with various partners to provide this target group with a nice job and the right guidance. If necessary, we adapt the workplace and make resources available to best meet these colleagues' needs.

Would you like to know more about this? Then get in touch at participatiebanen@ahk.nl.

Travel allowance
In order to be eligible for the commuting allowance, you must work for the Amsterdam University of the Arts on the basis of an employment contract. The travel distance between the home address and workplace must be at least 5 km (single trip).

Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences (cao-hbo)
The Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences (cao-hbo) is in force for all employees of the Amsterdam University of the Arts.

Salary
The AHK offers an attractive employee benefits package. In addition to the salary, for example, a full thirteenth month’s salary and a holiday allowance are offered.

More information
If you would like to remain informed about developments within this collective labour agreement, you can consult the website of the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (Vereniging Hogescholen).

Bicycle scheme
The AHK encourages travelling to and from work by bicycle. That is why it is possible for employees under contract at the AHK to purchase a bicycle with a considerable tax benefit. The amount of the benefit depends on the tax rate that applies to you, and varies from approx. 30% to approx. 50%.

When can you make use of the bicycle scheme?

  • You have an employment contract with the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
  • You can repay the interest-free loan within the context of the bicycle scheme within the term of your employment contract or the scheme.

Up to which amount are you allowed to purchase a bicycle?
The maximum amount for which you can obtain a tax benefit is €1,250 (bicycle purchase), plus an amount for accessories (differs somewhat per variant). The bicycle to be purchased may be more expensive, but the bicycle scheme will not apply to the amount above €1,250.

Health insurance
Together with the trade unions, the universities of applied sciences (hogescholen) have come to a collective arrangement with the health insurer Zilveren Kruis which AHK employees and their family members can make use of.

You can choose from three basic insurance policies. Depending on the choice, a 5% to 20% discount on supplementary insurance can be received. A discount between 5% and 15% is possible in the case of dental insurance.

Pension
You accrue pension from the moment you enter into employment with the AHK. This pension is an old-age pension in accordance with the pension scheme of the General Pension Fund for Public Employees (Algemeen Burgerlijk Pensioenfonds, ABP).

You can find information about the ABP on the website www.abp.nl.

Private ICT hardware scheme
The AHK encourages the use of modern means of work and communication, such as a tablet or laptop. It has therefore been decided to offer all employees, who meet the conditions specified below, the opportunity to purchase a laptop, tablet or desktop computer (hereinafter referred to as the ‘device’) via the employer in a way that is favourable from a tax point of view. A condition for this, however, is that the device will be used at least 10% of the time for AHK-related purposes.

The most important conditions for participation are:

  • You must have been employed by the AHK for at least one year
  • You can participate in this scheme no more than once every three years
  • You do not have a device made available by the AHK at your disposal
  • Repayment will take place in the calendar year in which the purchase has taken place

Social safety
At the AHK we provide a safe learning and working environment for pupils, students, teachers and staff. That is why submission of a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag, VOG) is a condition for entry into employment.

Read more about social safety here.
