Are you an education professional and do you want to develop further in your career? Perhaps the Comenius programme is something for you. The programme contributes to the renewal and improvement of higher education in the Netherlands. There are three different scholarships: the Teaching Fellowship, Senior Fellowship and Leadership Fellowship. With a grant you can put your ideas for educational innovation into practice. Below you will find the deadlines that you should take into account when applying for one of the Comenius grants.
Comenius programme Teaching Fellows 2022
Lecturers and other education professionals can apply for a grant of 50,000 euros to implement educational innovation within a subject or course. Small-scale, one-year projects can be financed with this Comenius Teaching Fellow grant.
Proposals can be submitted within three fixed themes and one open theme:
- Studying together at the hybrid campus
- Giving the student control over flexible education
- Transdisciplinary collaboration
- Open theme – Fit for the future

Comenius programme Senior Fellows 2022
With the Comenius Senior Fellow grants of 100,000 euros, innovation projects with a duration of two years can be financed. This concerns the implementation of an educational innovation within a faculty, major study program or substantial part of a higher education institution. Proposals can be submitted within the same four themes as mentioned above for the Teaching Fellow grant.

Comenius Program Leadership Fellows 2022
The Comenius Leadership Fellow grant can be used to finance innovation projects with a duration of three years. Professionals in education can apply for a grant of 500,000 euros to implement an educational innovation in one or more faculties, or in the entire higher education institution. In contrast to the projects of the Teaching and Senior Fellows, these projects do not have to fit within a specific theme. Read the call for proposals here.
