Bert Verveld has been president of the Executive Board of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) since 1 March 2015. Bert Verveld manages, among other things, the research, finances, control, (information) technology and accommodation portfolios.
In addition to his presidency at the AHK, Bert Verveld (Hengelo, 1957) also occupies various managerial and advisory positions. He is the chair of the Supervisory Board of the Centre for Innovation in Training (Centrum voor Innovatie van Opleidingen, CINOP), an independent research and consultancy organisation specialising in numerous services in the fields of education and the labour market. As a member of the External Advisory Board, he advises the University of Göttingen on international strategy. Bert Verveld is chair of the board of the Amsterdam Research Institute of the Arts, an inter-institutional partnership between the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), Rietveld Academie and the AHK, which focuses on merging academic and artistic research. In addition, he is a member of the steering committee that manages the Amsterdam Creative Industries Network (ACIN), the national Centre of Expertise for the creative industry and digital technology sector. The AUAS (lead organisation), Inholland University of Applied Sciences and the AHK participate in the ACIN.
Before taking up his position as president of the Executive Board of the AHK, Bert Verveld was, among other things, General Director of the University of Groningen and active as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Heads of University Management & Administrative Network in Europe (HUMANE).
